Last year many Walt Disney World guests were disappointed to learn that the Lights of Winter arches at Epcot would not be returning to the holiday lineup. A visitor to the park during Thanksgiving weekend reported, though, that fans like herself may be happy with Disney’s nod to the popular attraction.
For those who didn’t experience the Lights of Winter, there were 30,000 lights in arches that spanned the walkway connecting Future World to World Showcase, and they were choreographed to “dance” to holiday music. The nearby Fountain of Nations was synchronized to the music, which played in Innoventions Plaza as well.
Disney officials stated in 2009 the park was retiring the Lights of Winter because the technology to operate the attraction was obsolete. Large numbers of fans took the message boards to express their displeasure.
One visitor was overjoyed on Saturday to find the Fountain of Nations dancing to the Lights of Winter music. Although the arches have not returned, the musical loop also is played after the Illuminations fireworks show, she noted GO BACK
